My "try to do" list
Every week, I make a “to do list” and a “try to do list.” On my to do list, there are bills to pay, groceries to buy, birthday parties to RSVP to, things to clean, and show and tell bags to fill. On my try to do list, I add things like this:
Say yes to things the girls ask to do that truly don’t impact me. For example: can we sprint around in the pouring rain, barefoot, when we get home from school? Sure. (This was actually so freeing.) Can we carry a live cicada home that we found on the sidewalk and keep it as a pet in the backyard? Sure can.
Say no to things that I don’t want to do, but would normally say yes to because I feel obligated or because “everyone is doing it” (aka the yearly labor day carnival, solo with two tired kids - no thanks!)
Complete a task fully. Like do not put those cereal milk bowls in the sink when they can go in the dishwasher right now. Vacuum when you think about it, not three hours later. I think this could also be known as “efficiency.”
These two lists always live in the notes app on my phone, along with all my thoughts and dreams.
There is a chill in the air and soup season is upon us. Here are a few of our favorites that are going to make it into the fall rotation:
I got these last year to save and freeze leftover soup and we have used them a lot. Highly recommend - just pop them out into a pan and warm it up when you don’t feel like cooking.
You know what pairs with soup? Football in the background (go pack!) and a good book. The perfect way to spend time with your sports loving husband while reading a racy romance novel or whatever it is that you like to read.
A few things I have in my cart currently:
These for the girls as the weather cools off.
Nothing says fall like Anthropologie goodies.
Another pair of these pants that are my most complimented item of clothing.
Have an amazing weekend! Say no to things you don’t feel like doing and spend your precious time off doing what you want, with the people that you love.
