This time of year always feels more like a “beginning” to me than January does. Something about spring makes me reflect on what was happening last year when everything started to bloom.
In the past month I started a new role at work where I am now working on Fridays, which has been an adjustment while I figure out how to find more free time. We celebrated Dan at a fancy award ceremony, where I joked that he would have to give a speech, and then he did in fact have to give an acceptance speech in front of a lot of important people. Marley started soccer and is more interested in mastering a sassy strut across the field and the post game snacks. We’ve seen family and friends, drank a lot of coffee, and are gearing up to head to Florida next week for a much needed week off.

And we have a SIX year old today! It is the coolest thing ever to watch your kids grow into these little humans that have amazing personalities. I remember in the baby phase how often I would think about what it would be like to have a conversation with her. And it is way better than I could have imagined. Lately I find myself in one of two situations: completely in awe of how much she knows or extremely frustrated by her ability to talk back with such purpose and persistence at a mere six years old.
Things that putting a little spring in my step:
Planting some of the garden seeds. Is it too early? Probably. Do I like to live on the edge? Of course.
Buying a shed at Costco and doing a major garage clean out. Fresh paint, epoxy floors, and new garage gym here we come. I mean, the excitement is palpable!
Audiobooks on Spotify and Libby during walks outside
The fact that the color yellow is very in right now.
READING: Deep End by Ali Hazelwood and Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry
Both romances, but very different. I always trust in Beach Reads and Bubbly for book recs and Deep End got 5 stars. It is a little spicy and I loved it. And Emily Henry books can do no wrong.
LISTENING: The Giver by Chappell Roan
It blows me away how much range and creativity some musicians have. She is on many moms’ shit list right now after making comments about mothers being “in hell” but you know, sometimes we are after listening to Hot to Go for the 47th time in a row. So thank you for releasing a new hit. All jokes aside - I think she is very talented.
WATCHING: What am I NOT watching. TV is having a moment right now.
Your Friends and Neighbors, Severance, and when I find the time I want to start The Studio
Jon Hamm continues to age in the best way possible and Severance is the weirdest show I have ever seen but I can’t stop watching it. Nothing happens and I am so confused - but you should totally watch it.
COOKING: Spaghetti and meatballs for the birthday girl, brought to you by Rao’s, noodles, and bake-at-home garlic bread from Trader Joes.
BUYING:
These shorts and this lightweight sweatshirt for cool spring/summer nights.
This swimsuit and this cover up - so good for the price.
New gym shoes, the first non-Hokas that I love
